Just About Ready For This Photo Challenge To Be Over

But I will keep plugging on because I said that I would finish it.

day 21. a photo of you standing up

I love Kayla!
A wider view so you can enjoy the whole glory of this moment.

day 22. a photo of your town

Hometown number one, Eureka

Hometown number two, Rexburg. I don't know which one to claim now.

day 23. a photo of your friend as a baby
Ok fine. This isn't a photo of a friend of mine as a baby. Or even a friend's baby. But I would like to be friends with this baby!

day 24. a photo of you that your hair looks nice in

The vulture doesn't look half bad either.

Mustard for the Ketchup

day 18. a photo of one of your classes
This picture was taken of my feet by one of my teachers. It was English 314...um, Advanced Literary Composition or something like that. Basically we just tore literature apart and wrote cliche things about it.  Brother Samuelson was a fascinating teacher though and he just loved the color combination of my shoes and socks with Chandler's book bag so he took a picture! I think I was supposed to e-mail it to him but I never got around to it. And it's been two years. Um...at least I remembered now??

day 19. a photo of you on a school trip
You may not believe me, but I went to Belize and Guatemala on a school trip. President's week 2006. Oh baby. Best field trip ever! I scanned my entire computer and when it was reset I think I lost all of my pictures but I have them on a disc somewhere and I stole these off of Mandy's FB page. (It was mine originally anyway) I'm in the middle with dumb sunglasses and a light blue t-shirt.  This is in front of Temple II in Tikal, Guatemala. Temple I faces it and it is the iconic one that is most familiar but because of its stardom it is blocked off and only for admiring.  We went to the top of the one that we are standing in front of. Amazing.

day 20. a photo of something you enjoy doing

SEWING

It consumes my life. And I love being consumed.

I Am A Procraftinator

I should be working right now. Or sleeping. Or working on my final design project.
But no. I made this refashioned scarf!

Well, not this one literally. I haven't taken pictures of it yet but I got the idea from Disney's blog Ruffles and Stuff. It was super super easy and I can't wait to wear it tomorrow! I'll hunt someone down that's good with a camera and get it up as soon as I can. I dare you to make one yourself!

For another moment of procraftination I'm planning on making these Regency Silhouette ornaments from The Magic Bean. They are so adorable and I'm a huge fan of silhouettes.

I haven't decided completely where they will be going after I make the ornaments. Some will be for my family and a few for friends, but I'm also participating in this great craft swap

Strumpet's Ornament Swap

Ornaments for everyone!!! If you would like to participate the deadline is tomorrow, November 19th.
Well Erika has fallen asleep on my couch watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but she's probably just avoiding the fact that I've been reciting the whole thing! Brent is watching it for the first time and I bet he wants to shove a pillow in my face. "WHAT's HAPPENING TO ME? I'm all toasty inside. And I'm LEAKING!!!"

I'm super proud of the effort that I put in at work today. I'm the designated seamstress for apparel in our fabric department so I reorganized our little girl patterns and made a nice display. I also wrote a little tutorial for making fabric roses but I'll share that in a separate post. I'm really getting into the handmade Christmas spirit so with all of the new projects for work, as well as my top secret project (that will be finished on Saturday) and gifts it's a wonder that I find time to breath! But I'm managing somehow. Five weeks until California!!!

The photo challenge today is a photo from one of your classes and I'm not in any right now (technically I am, but it's independent study) and I'm not using my computer right now. If I find one later I'll add it but I think I'm just going to skip this one. Boring.

Ketchup

Yep. I took my own advice and spent some time off of the internet and read a book! Given, it was a graphic novel but it was excellent. Browsing through the local library I found a copy of Persepolis and had to read it. It's a memoir of a woman who grew up in Iran in the 1980's and about her experiences as a girl in a family that was opposed to the changes in the government at the time. It was moving to see how much her family fought for their cause and eventually her parents sent her to finish school in Vienna because they knew that she would only be punished and persecuted more if she stayed in Iran.  It's a beautifully told story and really informative so I'd highly recommend that you check it out.

15. a photo of you and someone you love

This is me and my mom making total tard faces at my sister's wedding. You can only smile for a pictures and look normal like 500 times in one day. And this was obviously not one of those times.

 16. a photo of you at the last party you went to

I've been to parties since Halloween, just none of them have been documented.

 17. a drunk photo of you

Well no drunk pictures of me exist anymore, so this will have to do. Because any normal person in this situation would probably be drunk. I find it HILARIOUS!

A Few Days Behind

I had a thought pop into my head the other day, "Those who say they don't have time to read spend too much time on the internet."  And so I took a break. Not to read, although I did pick up a few books at the library today, but to get some work done. I've got a super top secret project that I've been working on and it will be unveiled soon! I've just needed some time behind the sewing machine and its really turned out great.

Here are the photos that I missed out on since I took my mini-hiatus:

12. a photo of you

This is me and my mini-man Rex last Thanksgiving. We were holding hands and he was my holiday date ;) I sure LOVE that kid. Oh, and this was a vegetarian Thanksgiving!  I actually had some chicken for myself, but I didn't really eat that much of it. I felt like I was cheating.

13. a photo of your best friend

I love both of these girls, but Kristin is the one on the left and she has been my best friend since like, well, forever. Our moms got together this week for a little party and I thought how weird that must be that their twinner daughters aren't around and all of the kids are growing right up! Miss Julie is the one on the right and she's pretty great too :)

 14. a photo of one of your favorite family members

This is me and my Uncle Paul right after we saw Wicked in San Francisco.  I was visiting him for a few days and we had no plans. As we drove past the Orpheum theater I just shouted "Stop! Pull over and lets see what time it's playing!" So we got ourselves very last minute nosebleed seats to the musical!  Uncle Paul and I are the under-appreciated  single roaming starving artist types of the family so we connect really well and always have a good time when we come back home for visits.

Decisions Are Hard

Like choosing a favorite movie. Ok, lets go with THIS one!
11. Your Favorite Movie
"What is that a THROWING STAR??"
"Uh huh!"

Oh gosh. Hot Rod is going to fuel my children's lives. And Newsies. But I limited myself to only putting up one picture. Because that's what makes it a challenge!
The first time I saw this movie I hated it. Probably because I was in a pissy mood and I was with boys I didn't like (not that I don't like them now, I was just frustrated with them then) and I think I was heartbroken at the time too. I did have some of my best friends Ben and Jerry there and I think they suggested to me that I watch it again some time. I've never looked back. Thank you Brandilyn for telling me that my t-shirt collection sounds like something that Dave would wear. It's truely inspiring. I'll be putting pictures of those up soon and be making a check list of what animals I'd like to collect.

Erika and I are driving out to San Fransisco in April and we're planning a massive takeover of all thrift shops along the way. Let us know if there are any you'd suggest we hit up!

Wednesday, November 10

I. Was. Adorable.

10. Photo of you as a baby
This is one of those moments where I feel like I remember it but it was only because I've seen the picture so many times. I was only 6 months old. Pretty dang sure my memory isn't that good.

We Need More Family Pictures

9. A photo of your family
This was right after Sophi was baptized, so...August of 08

We haven't all been together for such a long time because of James being on his mission and Chelsea being married.  As soon as that boy gets back I demand a photo session because I have a very limited number of family pictures that I allow to be public!
One time they were so so bad. At least I feel terrible in them. We're all wearing red and black (meaning my jazz choir uniform and my sister in her band dress) and I had been at a friends house the night before. I insisted on showering when I got home and I never blow dried my hair in those days. So there I am, awkward smile, bushy eyebrows, red tuxedo shirt and black tie. Obviously not happy. Oh well. It's only on the the living room wall for everyone to see. No big deal.

Monday, November 8

Really. This Question is Impossible

8. Photo of your favorite music group
I can't just settle on one favorite band to choose a picture of so we'll go with my top 5:

Brand New:Deja Entendu is the best cd ever created.

3Oh!3:Sometimes all I need is a little booty shaking bad boy music to get me going in the morning. And afternoon. And night.

Jason Mraz:There was a period of time that I only listened to Jason Mraz. He covers so many different moods that his music is always applicable!

The Avett Brothers: My mother will gladly tell you how proud she is that her taste in music rubbed off on me. But not Annie Lennox. You'll never get her on my iPod mom. No matter how hard you try.

Buddy Holly: I've had a crush on Buddy Holly since 5th grade.

I didn't only choose guys intentionally, I'm just really picky about what female singers I like and none of them are really my absolute favorites.  I think its because there is something so attractive about a man that can sing and they really have to be unique.

Most recent giveaway that I've entered:
I have a severe need to wear all things comfy and these hoodies are ADORABLE!
Ok. You can enter too.

This One Was Hard to Choose

7. Photo of someone you love

My little sisters are the greatest spastic bundles of joy around.  They remind me how fun childhood was and to live a little and have more imagination.  They are fun people to hang out with and so easy to laugh and play with. I know that its really hard on them to have their 3 older siblings gone and I can't wait to visit in December!

Tumblr and Xanga Get The Credit For This One

6. A photo that makes you laugh
This is what came to mind immediately

Thirty Posts With The Same Title Could Get Really Old

5. A photo of you

This post had the potential to be boring. But oh, it's a photo of me. Think it was going to be a normal one? Not a chance!
This is reminiscent of days past when Kristin and I would swing on the rails after church. In our Sunday dresses of course.

A View Of Home

4. A photo from your last holiday/vacation

I went home to California in August for just a few days and took this picture of Niles right before leaving. He's a stinky, whiny, weird old cat but we still love him. Here he's all curled up in the window box above the kitchen counter.  I think this picture is a pretty good representation of my house. I so can't wait until I go home again at Christmas!!!

Happy Photos

3. Photo of something that makes you happy

My sister got married this summer! I'm so happy for Chelsea and her husband Jeremiah and also seeing my family together makes me so happy (do you like the ribbon of my dress that keeps it on the hanger showing? So classy). Oh wait, we're minus one because James is still on his mission, so if you doctored these photos together that would be nice.

And my Dad's side of the family too.
